This Little Pig Can’t Be Patented!

Photo: Jason Fitzpatrick

Following reports by Greenpeace that suggest Monsanto aims to patent the pig (see article here), we take a close look at this animal whom naturalist, W.H. Hudson, referred to as "among the most intelligent of beasts". With assistance from Dr. Eva Pip, a professor at the University of Winnipeg specializing in toxicology and water safety, Dr. Michael Greger, esteemed vegan nutritionist and Director of Public Health and Animal Agriculture at The Humane Society of the United States, and Jeffrey Masson, former psychoanalyst and bestselling author largely credited for revealing the emotional lives of animals to the world, we explore the tragic life of today's factory farmed pig, what farming and eating them is doing to ourselves, and the dignified intelligence and surprising emotional availability of this misunderstood animal.

Dr. Lester Friedlander Exposes the Meat Industry as Canada Confirms Second Case of Mad Cow Disease

Mad Cow Disease has resurfaced in Canada as final results confirmed an Alberta dairy cow had bovine spongiform encephalopathy (see article here). Lester Friedlander, DVM, former chief veterinary USDA Meat Inspector who claimed for years that mad cow disease was present in North America, will speak on mad cow disease, what gets past the meat inspection lines, and the realities behind the slaughterhouse walls. He will also tell us about his plans to formally charge the governments of California and New York to halt their production of foie gras and why the USDA is "violating its own Code of Federal Regulations, (CFR), according to '9 CFR 381 Poultry Products Inspection Regulations'" when approving foie gras for human consumption.
